This Friday is the Feast of the Most Precious Blood.
Let us consider what is good, and acceptable and well-pleasing in the sight of him that made us. Let us look steadfastly to the blood of Christ, and see how precious his blood is in the sight of God: which being shed for our salvation, has obtained the grace of repentance for all the world. – St. Clement, 1st letter to the Corinthians IV
Commemoration of the Most Precious Blood
|ERIT Sanguis Agni vobis in signum, dicit Dominus; et videbo sanguinem et transibo vos nec erit in vobis plaga disperdens.||THE blood of the Lamb shall be a token unto you, saith the Lord; I shall see the blood and shall pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you.|
|V. Te ergo quaesumus, tuis famulis subveni.||V. We beseech Thee, therefore help Thy servants.|
|R. Quos pretioso sanguine redemisti.||R. Whom Thou hast ransomed with Thy Precious Blood.|
|Let us pray:
O Almighty and Eternal God, who didst appoint Thine only-begotten Son the Redeemer of the world and didst will to be appeased by His Blood; grant, we beseech Thee, that we may so honor this the price of our redemption, and by its power be so defended from the evils of this present life on earth that we may enjoy its fruit in heaven for evermore. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who livest and reignest with Thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever.
